An estimated 5.2 million Americans live with Alzheimer’s. By 2025, the number of Americans with Alzheimer’s is expected to grow to 7.1 million Americans. In 2013, the National Institute for Health dedicated $500 million to Alzheimer’s research compared to $5.3 billion to cancer research. Do you think Alzheimer’s research is underfunded?

Yes, I do. I ama baby boomer. I took care of my father during his time with Alzheimer’s. It was incredibly sad. Next, his sister and brother showed symptoms of the disease. They died within a couple of years of each other. I am approaching 60 and scared. My father was 72 when he showed symptoms and dead at 75. As the large group of boomers age, what’s going to become of us ? We don’t heve strong family ties like our parent’s generation. Yes, we need to put more money into research.
