I take Risedronate 150mg once a month. Do any of you?

@mmwagner46: Hi! I was Osteopenia stage and on the 1/mo Risedronate pill regimen for 3 1/2 yrs. I asked for repeat DEXA or some test every year to see if Risedronate was working; but told I needed to wait the full 5 years.
At 3 1/2 yr mark I insisted on DEXA with results showing Osteoporosis with no bone density improvement and increased bone loss in many areas.
I wish I had a glowing report to share with you, but this is how my body reacted to Risedronate 1/months pill.
(If you are interested- I am now on the Evenity once per month injections.)
Osteoporosis has several treatment choices and I hope you research each one, comparing side effects, bone building result/control, etc., as you make your treatment choice. I wish you best of health!

I've been taking it for 3 years, following 3 years of annual Reclast infusions. I saw no improvement in my T-scores on Reclast but the Risedronate seems to have helped improve my scores - as of my last DEXA scan two years ago. I'll have another scan this Spring and am interested in seeing if improvement has continued. In addition to the Risedronate, I also take 1500 mg of calcium daily. This was prescribed by my gastroenterologist to counter the side effects from a steroid I am on to deal with microscopic colitis. So far, so good! I also had no side effects from either the Reclast or Risedronate and consider my self truly blessed!
