Which bone markers/labs to have while on Reclast?

Posted by aspirecreative @aspirecreative, Sep 8 8:24pm

Hello, I had a year of Evenity then about 6 weeks off, and then a Reclast infusion. I had a 15% gain in my spine and held steady in the hip. The Reclast was in April. I know I have seen discussion somewhere, but not sure where to find: what kind of labs should I be having while on Reclast? And, how often? My endo didn't mention anything. I don't think I had any kind of baseline before the Evenity. Also, I am on a low dose of omprezole, and sadly may be on it for ever. Does this impact what kind of testing should be done? I also have RA.
Thank you.

You should try to come off omprezole, it can contribute to bone loss being on it long term.
I was able to stop using, by eating smaller meals and avoiding certain foods. Along with taking a probiotic.

Bone marker testing (blood tests) of the CTX and P1NP can be done to check your levels.

I can't stop omeprazole because seven years agoI had an esophagectomy. I have no valves to keep food down, and if I don't take omeprazole and famotidine, then I got to deal with severe reflux that lasts an hour with burning of my throat and the possibility of aspiration.
