Where can I get help for osteonecrosis ? Where can I go?
I need help but dont know where to go. I will move if have to. I have recd osteoporosis injections which have csused severe effects. Look up Prolia severe side effects. I have them. Some last n some weaken. Help me please!I recd two injections of PROLIA. Severe side effects from both and pain has been horrid. My NP diagnosed me w osteonecrosis n told me it was bad, very bad! Then made a treatment plan. For pain control, antibiotics, steroids, and bone removal w jawreplacement if did not witk. Now the NP and dr decided not to treat me from
Neck up! Said wont treat me for osteonecrosis! I had to go to dentist who wd help me but cannot. He wants me to go to large institute like yours. Otologist n audiologist want me to go out of state and agree w dentist to seek help at Mayo. None of them can treat me. Refused by physician and NP to treat me from neck up. Right leg, ankle, foot, knee now hurt. Hard to stand or walk more than total of 4 hrs cumulative in a day. Have yo use rollator or cane snd drag my leg. I was on steroid oral and injections in same institution and separate podiatrist for decades. Both Achilles tendons tuptured and one tore off bone when did.. i did not hsve surgery.
Use: Tylenol, gabapentin, tramadol, hyoscamine sulfate and lidocaine. Been to pain mgmt with no recourse now but had lidocaine injectiond parallel to spine as well as had steroid injections previously. I refuse steroids now as make me hurt worse snd swell. Use lifocainr patches everywhere even on face and skull. Weak body. Had nystatin and erythromyacin at start of disgnosis of osteonecrosis. Finally some lidocaine .2% viscous which helps my mouth so can eat. During first injection was on small methylprednisolone and then off. It made bone and muscle pain worse. Sometimes feel a bit better now but never lasts. Exhausted from pain. Nauseated n headaches first 3 hrs daily. Eat soft carbs n soups and not well. This is not LIVING! I dont know.DEXASCAN. Want one but dont have someone I trust now. Hsptl is a monopoly. Has changed my records. I will move out of state if I knew where to go. I am in late 70s and I want to live!!! Soon my prescriptions will empty. I try not to use tramadol. Maybe I cd use THC or CBD. My NP n dr refuse to treat me above neck. (So, if I removed my head wd my body be well?!). They injected me, diagnosed, told me they wd help me and now wont!they refuse to treat me. They abused me so why wd I return? I went back to dentist who wants to help me No one will except told to go to you. What can I do? Ears and neckhurt as well as entire left side of face and head. One pulse pt on temple hurts too. Head hurts where have bones n worse on left.
My NP threatened to put be in mental institution when I told her the second side effects were worse pain than first and cried to her my pain was unbesrsble. I will not return to someone who abuses me. She turned the light off on me when whe left the room. The NP told me zi ed just havr to live w it as I did brfore. Another five months! She was angry!
My dentist tried to encourage me and told me he cant do the treatment. Not in this state. People have told me to go out of state and to you. I am terrified and do not feel well but worsening. What should I do? I was supposed to have 3rd shot in Sept. it is now Oct. I will take nothing now. Just trying to be csreful. See psin mgmt and then colonoscopy for pain, diasticis recti. And hernias. Sometimes I havr passed out from pain. Whst should I do? I am trying to know what I can do. Am fearful but I know people care if I can get to help. PLEASE know Prolua helps some people. I am not one. Thank you all for ideas snd best to you!

jimiwho, welcome to connect. I have a few questions that you don't have to answer. Do you have all of your records. If not, gather them. Where do you live.
This is a difficult fact to swallow, but you absolutely need to be on something to stop the damage of Prolia rebound.
You do need help and I feel sure there is help for you. You are very motivated and that will help you. Your care sounds egregious but leave that behind. You need all your energy to fight forward.
Usually an oral surgeon addresses osteonecrosis.

5 Reactions@jimiwho so sorry to hear about your very trying circumstances. You have so many concerns. Gently has given you good advice. You need all your records and a good experienced team of medical staff to work with. Unfortunately, as gently said you do need to be aware about possible rebound from stopping Prolia even after 2 shots.

2 ReactionsI feel so bad for you. Are you saying that the Dr that prescribed the Prolia won't help you with your side effect of Osteonecrosis? That sounds like medical malpractice. And then to have your NP threaten to put you in mental institution! Since you are in pain and poor health, do you have anyone that can advocate for you and help you find medical treatment? I know when you are in pain, it's hard to have the energy to research those options.
Has the Dr that prescribed Prolia gotten you started on another drug to prevent fractures from stopping Prolia? After stopping Prolia, it's important to start taking another osteoporosis drug to prevent rapid bone loss and potential fractures. Common options can include bisphosphonates or other medications.
I just did an on-line search and found there is a Prolia Support Group at Drugs.com. Here is a link to the site: https://www.drugs.com/answers/support-group/prolia/
Another site I found to connect with others taking Prolia is: https://rxchat.com/Discuss/Prolia/
Also, on Facebook there are several Prolia support groups. One is titled "Prolia (osteoporosis treatment) discussion group" and says "This group is for the expressed purpose of discussing the osteoporosis treatment Prolia and your personal experiences with Prolia. This group is only for folks taking Prolia or considering taking Prolia." Maybe someone in that group, or another Facebook Prolia support group can offer help. If you are not familiar with Facebook and how to find these groups, please let me know and I will try to help you with that.
Also, Amgen (the company that sells Prolia) has this support phone #. Maybe they can help? Call Amgen SupportPlus at (866) 264-2778 Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 8:00 pm ET
You should report your side effects to the FDA through their MedWatch program by visiting http://www.fda.gov/medwatch or by calling 1-800-FDA-1088. It's important to report any serious problems to help ensure the safety of the medication. Maybe someone there can offer advice.
Good luck to you. I will pray for you! Please keep us posted on whether any of these support groups were able to help you. God bless you!

2 ReactionsDaisy! Thank you for all your help. I am too weak and now am preparing
for colonoscopy on Monday. I am feeling sick without starting prep but
have numbers to call for GI nurse. I have abdominal pain from ribs all the
way downward and around to through
back to spine. I cannot wait to have procedure! Msybe they can help w
pain. I am run down and do not want to fall. There is plenty my provider
cd/shd have done but didnt: maybe it is your kidney stones. At one pt
she told me nit to go to hsptl except for bleeding or broken bones. I took
her advice. I have wsited in hsptl for 12 hrs without water food blanket
help. I went to leave n dr told me please stay as he knew i was sick n
said insurance co wd not have to pay. For what? He said he HAD to leave n
was not allowed to stay. I called a friend fir food n she ordered a
delivery at 9:30 at night. The ER was like MASH. It is the way it is. I
have called a friend after abdominal surgery to come get me as the surgeon
wd not give pain med. i was in misery n nurse whispered in my ear if i
brought med w me. She said she cd lose her job so we wd not get my purse
where med was. I cd not walk. She got it while watched door. I took med
I brought and started dressing to leave AMA after i had some pain help.
Slow. I know they said i cd not leave. I did not care. Barbaric dr!
Well thought of in community. OB/GYN. I can tell you many stories. Dr
apprd n said i cd lve.
I live in a college town in the midwest. There are medical schools here.
I do not feel safe. I hope I will be able to go to Mayo. They have SAVED
my son’s life four times now! I trust Mayo. I just hope I can get this
done. One half hr at a time.
I read Amgen as i began having reactions after first day of first
injection. Then Drugs—ev.en internation sights. Major medical oroviders.
Were helpful! Still are. Knew I was not insane. My med care here was
irritated I guess since they told me other people they had on Prolia werent
having trouble. No one believed me. It was my help. You are now. The
professional researchers etc help. Yes, i will let the Yellow Card know.
If you look up as you say above it helps!
Also if you look up Prolia Severe Side Effects I found it helpful. Nearly
eveverything I suffer was on there! I am terrified but I must keep
going. I quit telling most people here. This Support Group is helpful
factually!!! It is exactly what I have needed! Thank you all for the help
you give. These are tough times. I do not think I will be able to live
much longer. But I want to. So I will keep trying.
I read someone i need to encourage as I empathize 100%. Person is
terrified to chose Prolia or other because of side effects but is also
terrified of osteoporosis. I made a decision which was poor fir me. I
should have followed my instincts. Dexa scan n dr n NP said needed badly.
Is there more information to
Help us with decisions! Does our family experience tell us? I.e., my
mother had bad diet and had only one broken bone when she fell off ladder
and broke her wrist. She lived to 98 yrs old but had dementia. She bowled
well with 300 games and trophies. Did her own housework inside and raised
family. She didnt know who I was. She never had treatment for bones
except traction until late into dementia she wandered in night and fell and
cracked her ribs in her bedroom. She was in late 80s. I do not know how
she lived as well as she did nor without meds for arthritis and multi
vitamins.
Do our parents’ bone stories tell ours? Is it another aid to determine
future? Will
Mine tell my children’s? Is there s difference between sons/daughters?
Besides diet and exercise/wgt bearing activities, etc. what can young
people do to prevent the osteoporosis?
How does treatment for bone cancer with these drugs compare to treatment
for steroid related or other types of osteoporosis?
Are their studies of prevention of osteonecrosis while on the meds esp
denosumab? Is there a way to determine whether it is caused by drug
reaction or infection?
Or does it make any difference as to how osteonecrosis is treated?
What should I have done differently?
What options exist now? I do NOT WANT TO PURSUE ANOTHER DRUG. I will try
to save the necrotic mess. But I am so very old I wonder if that will maje
treatment too difficult?
So many questions!!! Of most importance: How does a patient ascertain
medical provider is following manufacturer’s directions. For example, what
were the patient’s levels of Vit D and Calcium prior to injection? Do they
check the levels 8 wks afterwards? Or do they merely have the injection
put in patients without those concerns and admonish patient every six
months?
More importantly, if the patient has concerns about the above where can the
go for help if told not to worry about it or they do not give Vit D
injections! How can patients get help! Where?
Having failed myself no matter what I tried I wish only to help fellow
patients and caring professionals all work to help those of us faced with
any situation similar to this. Thank you, all of you. Health and
appreciations!
Jimiwho?
😁
I will call Mayo and see if they will take me again as a patient for the
bones. I hope. I will have to fly and had problems w that last time. I
learn.
