Hello @2care, I know not having insurance can be a terrible situation to be in when you are having any kind of medical condition but it must be even worse when it's your eyes. I'm not sure if you have looked into any local government assistance but here is some information that might be helpful:

-- Get Free or Low-Cost Eye Care | National Eye Institute:
https://www.nei.nih.gov/learn-about-eye-health/healthy-vision/get-free-or-low-cost-eye-care

Do you mind sharing more about your eye problem or diagnosis?

@2care, I add my welcome. Please note that I removed the image attached to your post as it included your patient ID number and other personal identifying information. Mayo Clinic Connect is a public forum and we recommend removed personal identifying information from any photos shared.

In addition to the resource John shared about the National Eye Institute, you may also search in your area using My Help Navigator to find free or low cost medical care and more. Check out this website and search engine called "My Help Navigator". https://myhelpnavigator.auntbertha.com/
All they have to do is enter your zip code to find service in your area.

Seems no site is for eye problem. My brother worked his whole life, last place closed, new union job will not give him insurance until January! The only thing he qualified for was Community Cares Insurance which after going to Wills Eye Hospital Emergency Room was told they do not accept that Insurance.
Will most likely be blind in that eye by January and cancer spreading.
Union will not bend after months of working there until January for Insurance coverage.
Will most likely need eye removed if no help before January, which plan would you suggest ?
Community Cares is some form of Medicaid, but of no use at Wills Hospital in Philly.

...I shouldnt comment maybe as am in Canada but not everyone is covered for everything here. My dream is that every persons has every part of their body covered by insurance regardless of history, income, job status etc., as well as free education until goals achieved - not to go to 'school' forever type thing but until learns a trade or finishes the university course, approved. But will never happen. When I retired my private insurance for meds etc. continued and includes my spouse but if and when I die, he will no longer be covered. Whereas when he retired, his private insurance for etc. for both of us ended. Now my adult daughter lost job thru downsizing, the insurance went and she has to pay $500. Cdn. a month for meds, dentist etc. I do not understand why teeth are not covered, aren't they part of our bodies? And eyes.... I have eye issues and all expenses been covered, it's inhumane not to cover costs of medical and injuries to eyes... but even here exams are not covered for certain ages.... I want any municipal, provincial or federal taxes I pay to go to health, education, housing, not just repaving roads and building new government 'fancy' offices etc.... first things first! I hope you can get some help. J.

Often unions, at the local, state or national level, have a benevolence fund for situations like this. Maybe you can check on that?

@johnbishop Thank you for sharing this information on possible assistance for those of us with eye issues and insurance or lack of it. Am needing to have eye surgery later this month because of hemorrhage and then six months later cataract procedure. Can only afford Medicare so no supplemental insurance and live in rural area which requires transportation to/from 3 yrs. so a lot to think about.
