What shoes to bring for discharge?

Upon discharge after TKR do you bring a larger and/or wider shoe for the foot that had the replacement and your regular size for the non surgical leg? Does the foot even swell or is it only your knee? I did search the older discussions about footwear but couldn’t find an answer to my question.

Hello, momma2lucy (@momma2lucy)
Others may have had a very different experience, but I believe I given a pair of hospital slippers, but still I don't recall having to do much in the way of walking; instead, as with most all hospital dischargees, I was rolled in a wheelchair to the open door of my partner's automobile. That said, I honestly don't remember the foot on my TKR-operated leg having swollen. I may be wrong, but these are my best recollections.
Cheers!

I don’t remember which shoes I wore to surgery, but I suspect I would have chosen some easy slip ons so as not to have to deal with bending over to tie laces. I did not experience any swelling in the lower foot, it was just restricted to around the knee area. I was wheelchaired to the car door as well, which is funny because they were getting me up to walk down the halls during the night right after surgery for a couple of sessions.

Well, the physio, when she saw my clogs, got me a pair of a kind of walking shoe. I needed a very stable shoe that would adhere to the foot. She said clogs were dangerous.
