Hey Lee, I think the community site is great. I’ve launched and manage several similar sites in the LTC space. It will be interesting to see how the community evolves over time. I’m curios, what platform is the site built on?

I love the DiabeticConnect site – good choice! Very easy to use platform
Thanks Lee. What the name of the platform?
I think this site is great!! Very often it is hard to find others that are experiencing some of the health issues that we are able to communicate with and find out their experiences, advice and encouragement. Mayo Clinic is the best!!! I probably wouldn’t be alive and for sure would not have a leg if it wasn’t for the expertise of the orthepedic, infectious disease and plastic surgery departments. It is so awesome how everyone works together as a team. I was hospitalized several times and my husband never worried about me when he had to go home, 31/2 hours away and I was left in the care of those at Mayo. I wish more institutions would use Mayo as the one to turn to for what they are striving for. I have never experienced such wonderful, caring people, no matter what their job is! Keep up the great work!!

Wow…thanks for your great comment. I’m glad you’ve had such a good experience. Thanks for sharing.
Lee — I think the site is great! I just joined. My one comment would be that under the listing for issues, diseases — there is not a topic for Hep C or Liver disease. Thanks
Thanks…If you go to your profile and edit your health interests you should see Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Liver problems. You just have to scroll down.
I was really hoping to find a category on headahce/migraine since I’m noe sure if they qualify as a brain or neurological disease.
What I really think would be the most helpfulfor users, would be having interns/reidents from different departments come into the different discussions regularly and provide helpful links, or ideas on where to search for more information.
Also, perhaps the consideration of making the Discussion Board Google-searchable, so it gets more hits???
Thanks…we do have a place to list health interests if you edit your profile, and you can list various kinds of headaches. We can look at adding discussion categories, too. Appreciate the suggestion.
Alternative medicine is very helpful if you haven’t had relieve by meds. Try acupuncture and let your insurance company know you want it to be a billable service. Hope it works for you. Helped me.
I felt like it was difficult to register due to the many questions and the default privacy settings which exposed all information to everyone.

Something odd seems to be happening with the Friends feature. I just registered a day or two ago and accepted no friend requests. Now when I log in it displays posts by many Friends via the friends tab.
