Feeling Skipped Beats, Palpitations: What could this possibly be?
I have an establishing appointment with a cardiologist Monday the 20th but I would just like to discuss what the results might be. My heart has had what I'd call an uncomfortable "presence" for about a month now. I can feel every single beat and I get palpitations and the sensation of skipped beats whenever I am active at all. I have cut out caffeine and cigarettes completely but my resting heart rate has continued to rise. It doesn't go down below 60 even in my sleep anymore. I have medicine for my nerves but this does nothing for the discomfort or palpitations at all. I have zero energy and anytime I do much as get up it feels like my heart is being worked to its limit. A month ago I felt great and this has progressed so fast. I'm terrified. I'm only 25 years old but my dad died of congestive heart failure at 32 after a heart transplant. Any insight or thoughts would be much appreciated.

I feel your pain. I was diagnosed with pvc's when I was 23 yrs old. I'm still around complaining about it and I'm 63 now. I'm still getting them, except a lot more frequent. They can scare the heck out of a person, but as I've been told many times, it's a common symptom, so don't panic. I know...easier said then done. I still panic as I also have heart disease in our family. However, I'm still putting up with this and I'm still here, so I think you'll be fine. Try and take your mind off it. Best to keep yourself busy with friends or family. Hope I helped a little.
I know how you feel. These pvc's have turned me into a hypochondriac. I was first diagnosed with pvc's when I was 23 and I am now 63. I'm still here complaining about them, so I know there not going to kill me!! I just started getting them frequently this past couple weeks. I've read on line that it is very common and not to worry but that is easier said then done. However, I think that anxiety plays a big role in the episodes your feeling. Stress can play such a big roll. I honestly think that is most of my problem. Try and take your mind off of them by keeping your self busy. Try talking with a friend or family member for support. This website has help me a great deal! It's nice to know I'm not the only person having these issues. We can get through it...we've come this far with few battle scars, so try not to worry.
I have pvc’s & they are so bothersome. Had numerous tests, just had a 30 day event monitor. Had this issue since a kid. Worse as I got older. I sympathize with anyone with this condition. Panicky at times. I was advised to meditate & take up yoga. We’ll see.
I had pvc's for about 5 years, on holter/s and controlled well with Cordarone 100mg, asymptomatic mostly, recently due to minimal no.of
them to zero- level, on random ecg/s, on monthly basis, for 3 months and prolonged QT 537 ms, reduced the dose of medication
(cordarone) to 50 mg, and QT 444 ms, is reduced interval and I feel better. This is only as a preventive measure to avoid any episode
of v.tach ; progress has been rewarding, with significant reduction of the risk.I have more of sinus bradycardia, with HR/PR of 55-60/min, prolonged PR-interval (237 ms), I am clinically stable.
There are people with many beliefs here. I would really appreciate no posts that are based on one's religion.
I am in the same situation. After many tests and thousands of dollars I was told I had PVC,s. Which we all already knew. Just very frustrating to deal with. One cough and they usually stop. Also just come and go for no reason at all.
Pretty much all you describe can be perfectly normal for you. I have had the same thing for 20 years and still dong fine but it can be very scary. I don't know your age but it is a common occurance I am told. Also stress makes it worse. So they tell you to try and relax but pretty hard when your heart is thumping away and skipping beats. I do my best to ignore them and often it is days when I realize all of a sudden that they have lessened or stopped. A good hard cough will usually stop them for a time. Sorry you are having such problems with getting tested. Where do you llive?
Go to the ER. They cant refuse anyone that needs treatment.
Relax it sounds like it is pacs or pvcs and probably driven by your anxiety. The more you worry about it the more adrenaline your body will release and the more etopic beats you will have.cutting out the caffeine and smoking should help. The etopic beats are most then likely benign
