Valley Fever

Posted by @ronhamilton in Infectious Diseases, Aug 30, 2011

I am a 54 year old male truck driver, I travel all 48 states & Canada & carry loads out of Mexico & South America. I have been recently diagnosed with valley fever. I live in central Ohio. I am already out over $10500.00 out of my own money in hospital visits & surgery. Add in missed work, it adds up to even more. MY question is? Sinse this is a desease found only in the south west and the fact that I reside in Ohio & my duties as an over the truck driver is to deliver loads to customers & then when the truck is empty, it is required that I sweep the trailer clean. Many of these loads come from Mexico and other south west states, Laredo, Tx, El Paso, Tx. thx, Ron Hamilton

Valley fever (cocci) is a fungus that lives in your lungs. Usually is in the ground and people breathe it when the ground is disturbed or the spores are in the air.

I was diagnosed with Valley Fever in 2002, settled in lungs but cleared up after several months of Diflucan. Currently in Scottsdale area and wondering if it has re-activated. What would be signs or symptoms of re-activation?
