You can also do a telehealth with the center of Excellence such as MD Anderson, Cornell Weill…

1 ReactionAlso there's a website called deep view imaging I guess it's free and the
will give them a second look at your pictures you have to send them in
digital format and they analyze them using AI.
I sent my biopsy slides to OHSU for second look. They were downgraded from 3+5 to 3+4. I met with Dr Amling. He is a surgeon with over 3000 procedures. Highly regarded.

1 ReactionA dilemma I had when getting a 2nd opinion on a biopsy was this (and this applies to 2nd opinions on any scan as well) —> A Gleason score is a pathologist’s educated, experienced opinion of what he/she sees under a microscope. Much of the interpretation of tissue slides (as well as MRI/CT/PSMA images and scans) is often as much an art as it is a science, and depends on the skill and experience of the person interpreting them.
So, when you get a 2nd opinion on a biopsied tissue (or scan) that’s a different Gleason score from the first opinion, how do you know which one is “right” and which one to use?
You don’t want to inadvertently under-treat, and you might not want to significantly over-treat.

1 Reaction@pjm4416 Second endorsement for Dr. Amling. He removed my prostate after I was refused at another large institution. That was in 2019.
He not only is highly proficient and experienced, but he treats you with warmth.
OHSU urology scheduled my biopsy before a consultation. Is that typical in large University Hospital systems?
@ezupcic They already have the MRI. What kind of biopsy was scheduled (fusion + transperineal or transrectal)? and is that what you want? Might have something to discuss if it is not or they cannot tell you. Consultation would just say you need a biopsy based on MRI results. After biopsy they will be able to discuss treatment options.

1 ReactionI met with Dr. Amling yesterday to discuss my options and they automatically take a second look at your biopsy slides and mri and pet scans if that's the case rated #1 in Oregon and 25 in the nation.

1 Reaction@ginger38314 are you considering radiation treatment at OHSU? Do you know if they offer SBRT proton treatment? And if you go the surgical route, any data about nerve sparing procedure at OHSU?
