typical side effect for Camzyos

Posted by graciechi @graciechi, May 10 5:08pm

Just started Camzyos (today is 4th day) and am having dizziness, low blood pressure and increased heart rate. Are these typical side effects? Hoping this is temporary!!

Hi there...I started 5 mg morning Camzyos in Oct 25. Super dizzy...doc changed my Camzyos to bed time. Dizziness immediately stopped. Blood pressures went very low and blood pressure doc changed my morning spironolactone to half...it runs in the normal range now. Heart rate went up to the low 90's (was usually 75-80).
We haven't addressed that yet...appts coming up in early June with both HCOM and BP docs. Wishing you well, Gracie...it takes some tweaking. I am now on 2.5 Camzyos as my echos have been showing improvement.
Take one day at a time and try not to worry...you can do this! Blessings, Christine

@christine270 thanks! I have been taking it at bedtime, but still have been dizzy! my blood pressure was low for just part of a day and is now better. It's tough to have symptoms on a Sunday when I can't reach my doctor and I'm so new to this. It's a little scary. Appreciate your encouragement. Will call the doctor's office today and will hope for the best.

Hi, Gracie...that dizziness is a tough one...I felt like I was in a clothes dryer tumbling 'round and 'round! Glad your pressure is getting better. I know this is all scary...always feeling a bit edgy but I am finding it takes time to adjust to new meds and finding that my gradient has improved gives me hope...Blessings to you...glad you are calling the doc so he/she can make any needed tweaks 🙂 , Christine

I started 5 mg of Camzyos on May 1st. Having SOB almost daily. Fatigue levels are really bad. Feel like I’ve been hit by a truck when I wake up in the mornings, and it’s very difficult to get out of bed but my 2 dachshunds are so demanding so I have to get up. If I didn’t have to take care of them, I’d probably be in bed 12 hours or more. My walking is unsteady most of the time. I have a video conference with Pharmacotherapy Cardiology to discuss the medication tomorrow afternoon. I’m ready to stop this medication right now.

@christine270 thx for your update - especially the dizziness - I'll try taking it at night! My doc said my fatigue was from dehydration and put me on electrolyte drink daily plus extra water too.
It worked! I'm myself again! There is hope!

@dconner ask your doctor about taking electrolyte drink daily! It made a major difference in my fatigue level! Instant IV is the brand recommended to me. I dilute mine x2.

@sassyrdh329 Good morning! SO glad you feel like yourself again...There have been times on this journey when I was missing me! 🙂 It's good to know that hydration has made such a difference as it is inexpensive and within your control to carry out. Good for you...you give hope to the rest of us!

@dconner Good morning, hope your appt went well. I have learned that with each appt, the docs are reacting to my symptoms, test results, feelings, etc. and twekaing along the way. I started on Camzyos 5 mg in Oct. Felt super for two weeks then I felt like I had the flu every day.
I went to work but tried to avoid people and just do my work. I feel like I lost Nov & Dec; wanted to hide from holiday gatherings. Based on improved gradient doc lowered dose to 2.5 in Dec. Continued to feel badly (edgy, tired, SOB, rapid heart rate) until the end of April.
Feeling pretty well right now although recent blood work showed that I am taking way too much thyroid hormone and it causes tends to trigger hair loss, rapid heart rate, edginess, etc. Doc has tapered the thyroid dosage so now I am adjusting to the lowered dose and feel hopeful. My point is...it is a journey and the docs will continue to explore and tweak along the way. Try to persevere, be patient and take one day at a time (sometimes I just want to get through the next hour!) You can do this...hugs and blessings... 🙂

@christine270 Best wishes for a fast solution to all of the tweaking of dosages. Add or delete something within the mix has such individualized consequences. Thank you for reminding us all that we are essentially walking chemical factories.

They were typical for me. My heart felt so tight I thought it would kill me. My breathing was difficult due to chest pain and I was always short of breath. It was hard to speak an entire sentence without breathing somewhere in the middle. I also felt really lightheaded feeling like I was close to passing out but never actually did. Jeanne
