What is next step in treating severe osteoporosis after 2 years of Tymlos and 1 year of Evenity?

Yes these are the things I would like to know before starting this drug which I have done for 2 years. Especially after reading about someone losing half the amount they had gained in the second year, also taking another drug

@mdm30 what were your Dexa results after Tymlos? Did you not see any, or enough, gains? Is that why you went on to Evenity?

My Dexa scan from two weeks ago showed little to no improvement after three years of therapy as described above. Not sure why not making gains.
I need to start a new therapy in a few weeks. Wish I could uncover why I can’t make gains on these bone building drugs.
Any info would be helpful as I need to start my next treatment in a few weeks.

My scores went from severe to moderate osteoporosis. My spine T-score is -3.2
My endocrinologist said I am her only patient that did not make gains on Evenity. I want to know why I’m a nonresponder!
Any reccd for further testing/reasons I’m not responding would be appreciated.
Thank you

I went from -4.7 to -4.1 after two years on Tymlos. Will soon finish one year on Evenity and will get a bone scan to see where I am now. My treatment was prescribed by Dr. Keith McCormick. He does phone consultations and tells you what blood tests to get for him to evaluate your situation. He is a true expert on bone building, as he had severe osteoporosis himself. He has written two books, so you can educate yourself. He has more than one website, but you an find him at osteonaturals.com. I highly recommend him. The other doctors I've seen know very little about how to effectively treat osteoporosis, including an endocrinologist who was a complete waste of time.

@mdm30 I’m sorry that you didn’t have better gains. Has your endocrinologist investigated other potential contributors to osteoporosis? The reason I ask is because mine recently discovered that I have idiopathic hypercalciuria, meaning that I lose a lot of calcium in my urine. I was placed on a mild diuretic to address this.

Aside from that, there are a number of factors that contribute to bone growth that can be considered to promote bone growth while you are on these drugs. This includes diet and exercise. Perhaps you have addressed these already.

I am one of the patients who was fortunate to have had good gains in my spine from Evenity combined with eating a mostly Mediterranean diet with adequate protein and calcium from food sources and doing resistance training with weights along with walking and other cardio exercises 5 to 7 days a week.

I hope that you can find the right treatment plan for you to help improve your bone density.

Hello. I've heard that Keith McCormick can't prescribe medication. Did you then go to your doc and request what Keith recommends? Thanks!
