Treating crohn's

Posted by quail47 @quail47, Oct 11, 2011

Hello,
My daughter was a patient at Mayo Clinic a few yrs. ago and was advised to keep treating her Crohn’s disease w/medication only. She went to a gastro Dr. who performed a colon resection on her. She developed perotinitis and died 6 days after the surgery…has anyone dealt with this disease and dealt with this type of surgery and had problems from it? Thank you!
Kay

Hi Kay,
My name is April and I also have Crohn’s disease and also just recently had a colon resection surgery a week ago today. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I haven’t had any trouble as far as perotinitis, but I have developed extremely low blood. I had to have two blood transfusions. The surgery has been difficult. It’s not an easy one to recover from I am struggling. I wish I knew more of this perotinitis that your daughter developed.
