Treating crohn's

Posted by @quail47 in Digestive Health, Oct 11, 2011

My daughter was a patient at Mayo Clinic a few yrs. ago and was advised to keep treating her Crohn's disease w/medication only. She went to a gastro Dr. who performed a colon resection on her. She developed perotinitis and died 6 days after the surgery...has anyone dealt with this disease and dealt with this type of surgery and had problems from it? Thank you!

Hi Kay,
My name is April and I also have Crohn's disease and also just recently had a colon resection surgery a week ago today. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I haven't had any trouble as far as perotinitis, but I have developed extremely low blood. I had to have two blood transfusions. The surgery has been difficult. It's not an easy one to recover from I am struggling. I wish I knew more of this perotinitis that your daughter developed.
