Traveling with CF: Tips & challenges of maintaining routine
Summer travel is ahead and, particularly on road trips, I find my daily routines a challenge. While the rest of the world may be most concerned with gas prices, I have a much harder time staying faithful to my breathing treatments with a nebulizer, nightly nasal rinses, and even good dietary habits while eating out on the road constantly. I often find myself sacrificing one of my daily breathing treatments because I just don't have the time. I would love to hear what challenges others deal with and any tips you've found to address them.

Since I posted the original comment in this thread, my wife and I made a short trip to NC to visit our son and his family. We were gone for only 4 days, but I "paid" for it by being sick for about 10 days afterward.

1 Reaction@ckscoville, I'm sorry to hear that your trip resulted in your getting sick for more that twice as long as the time away. What, if anything, would you have done differently?
@colleenyoung I followed all of my regular routines (breathing treatments, nasal rinses, etc.) on the trip, but I think proximity to my granddaughter was probably the reason. My bloodwork has always shown that my immunity is very low and I'm very susceptible to infection. My granddaughter is one and a half years old and tends to bring home all kinds of bacteria from her daycare. That being said, spending time with her was priceless and I would do it all again.
I seem to always get sick after a trip. I usually don't take my vest because it's such a heavy hassle! I feel like a walking drug addict as it is. I don't think I get enough sleep, do too much, and often don't wear a mask. I always wear a mask on a plane!!!
