You should have that spot removed and a biopsy done. Mine turned out to be squamish cell cancer and a second one appeared and was removed. Keeping a careful eye out through dental checks every 3 months.

@ldharrison – I've had something on that order when I've bitten my tongue, and it's then healed and gone away.
@cal1972 @firelady @mouser have also mentioned tongue symptoms and may have some thoughts on the bump on your tongue and the photo you provided in your post. @debmc1958 @merpreb also may have some input on it.
Are you looking at making an appointment or contacting your doctor online to get some input?

Thank you. This spot has been there for quite sometime now and I've just pushed it away thinking it was no big deal.

I go to the doctor today and have a dental procedure tomorrow so I will be asking the docs about it.

I have not seen a dentist in so many years due to no insurance but it will now be on my must do list. I go to the doctor today so hopefully I will find something out.

I'm glad to hear that, @ldharrison. As you are comfortable doing so, will you post and let me know how you are doing?
Hello @ldharrison,
I hope your doctor's appointment went well. If you care to share an update, I'd enjoy hearing from you.

Hello @ldharrison and welcome to Mayo Connect,
As you may know, Mayo Connect is comprised of members who are patients like yourself. We are not able to make diagnoses nor suggest treatments. That being said, we have a number of members who have discussed, Lichen Planus, which can result in patches in the skin as well as in the mouth. Here is some information from Mayo Clinic's website that you provide you with some information as well as pictures of how this disorder appears on the skin or in the mouth,

Here are some conversations about this disorder on Mayo Connect,

@ldharrison Have you discussed this problem with your doctor or dentist yet?
