Worried about swollen ankles after transplant

I’m in no way medically trained but did read yesterday that both ankles swollen can be a circulation issue or edema, etc. but a single ankle can be more serious - perhaps the result of a clot. The recommendation was to seek medical evaluation as soon as possible. Good luck and I hope it turns out to be something simple.

I didn't have any swelling prior to the transplant. Then I had my double lung transplant. My legs ballooned to the point that my son wanted to poke me with a pin to deflate me. After a while the swelling went down pretty much. I now 4 years post transplant still have swollen ankles with the right being worse than the left. The only thing that I can do is keep walking to keep the swelling down to a minimum.

@hughwmyers, How is the swelling? Did you contact your doctor or learn anything about what is causing it?

Definitely tell your transplant team. One leg swelling could possibly be a blood clot. An ultrasound of the legs could easily rule that out. Good Luck!
