Surgery

Has anyone had surgery for a pelvic floor prolapse? The more I read up on it the more anxious I am.

Welcome @miller0304 !

My mom had this surgery about ten years or so ago. What specifically would you like to know?

I’m wondering about recovery time and afterwards, if everything goes back to basically normal, if you get my meaning?

Hi @miller0304 !

It’s been too long for me to remember how long on the recovery time. I know for awhile she wasn’t supposed to lift over 10 lbs. and needed to be careful about coughing hard, too much physical strain, etc.

But she was able to have normal control again over “holding it” and not having accidents.

Unfortunately, the vaginal mesh they used had a recall due to failure and she may have to have to done again.
However, I’m sure if you talked to your doctor(s) they could inform you about what it is that they’ll be using.

Hope this helps!
