Statistical Information: Best Hospitals in U.S.

Posted by lsittll @lsittll, Aug 18 9:49am

I was reading some statistical information about the best hospitals. Johns Hopkins Hospital is no longer #1 in general. It only ranks #1 in neurology and neurosurgery. Although I don’t feel that way anymore. Mayo is now the #1 hospital in general.

Hi @lsittll, Thanks for starting this new discussion. You will notice we have augmented the discussion title a little so that members will know what the discussion is about. Mayo Clinic has been listed as the number 1 hospital overall for the past couple of years. I feel very lucky that I live in the area of Rochester Mayo Clinic. Here's a couple of links that provide more details.

@johnbishop Thanks for that article. I wish I lived closer to Mayo but I'm happy to be near the University of Michigan Hospital (#11) and a 3 1/2-hour drive from Cleveland Clinic (#4).

Hello@johnbishop. I've been both an inpatient and an outpatient there. JHH's nursing care is horrible! It's doctors think that just because they are at such a good hospital that they know it all. In addition a neurologist I had there more or less verbally abused me after I saw him for many many years. My feelings about it not being #1 are based on the above

@lsittll, I've been fortunate as both an inpatient and an outpatient at Rochester Mayo Clinic. All of the staff, doctors, nurses, receptionists and even most patients have been really great and respectful. 20 years or so ago I was in a heart study where I did several overnight stays in the hospital as part of the study and that was pretty awesome…even received some remuneration 🙂
