Social Life and migraines: Difficult to manage?

Posted by kazg @kazg, Sep 28 4:58pm

Do you find dealing with frequent migraines, challenging to keep or form new friendships? Is isolation due to pain, keeping you home alone much of the time? Are your migraines changing who you are as a person? I have 15-19 migraines a month. Each last 8-16 hours, depending on onset. I currently inject Emgality once a month. I am not married and a female.

Have you considered botox? It works great for me. God bless

Botox was a life changer for me. I still have to inject Aimovig monthly to help prevent breakthrough headaches, and Ubrelvy when the headache comes anyway, but I literally got my life back with getting Botox every three months. I literally had a migraine 24/7 for over 6 months straight, and the depression was really bad. Forget a social life, I literally couldn’t function.

Emgality (and Ajovey) did not work for me, so neurologist tried Vyepti infusion (migraine infusion 2x, didn't do much for me). My insurance policy is 100mg Vyepti Infusion for the first 3x (1 injection every 3 months) before 300mg Infusion. The 300mg much better results.
Note: I also have Gabapentin 400mg 2x/day, Eletriptan 40mg, 1 (or 2) pill every 4days for weekly events (and Tylenol n Ibuprofen 1x in between Eletriptan). I also get monthly PT-Dry Needling at base of skull 1x/ month now (started 1x/week) for tense neck causing tension on head.

best wishes

Yes, headaches do damage to my life in general because I make plans, and my headaches ruin them, especially in the morning because my headaches are always in the night and often times continue on through the morning. Since I have had them for 45 years, and have taken numerous steps to conquer them, it can be frustrating. I am told I have hypnic headaches. I’d like to hypnotize them away!! Lol
