Sle

Posted by @techi, Jul 9, 2017

Has anyone been diagnosed with possible sle. I was reading my notes from the rheumologist at the mayo clinic lab results. I had high ana, alpha 3, rnp and others. The rheumologist said l might have autoimmune deminta. The neurologist asked me if l’m upto date on my cancer test. Well that doesn’t sound good. I told her that l was told l didn’t have kidney failure instead kidney stone, no heart failure that the cardiologist at the mayo clinic said l have no heart disease instead uncontrolled high blood pressure and he said its now controlled. I had my colonscopy and no cancer, and the last time l had my mammogram it was normal and just last week they said l had mild dense breast, and l was told l didn’t have lung disease. On some days it’s copd and others it”s asthma. So now tomorrow is the spinal tap and the next day is the consultation. My gastroentologist told me all the problems has to do with my meds. I miss him sorry he had to retire. But they didn’t refer to an oncologist. I guess l should look at as good news. Just tired of all the test. This has been going on since 1997 when l had my brain injury. And surgeries sincec 2013 but thank God l am alive

Hello @techi, there is an active discussion for Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) that you might want to join here: http://mayocl.in/2uYG8RB.

I can understand the frustration with all the tests and missing your gastroenterologist due to his retiring. Hopefully you will connect with another one who can help. i agree with you that sometimes no news is good news and it definitely helps when you are able to look at the bright side and keep a positive attitude in the midst of uncertainty.

I am praying that your spinal tap and consultation go well and the doctors can figure out if any of the problems are due to your medications. Can you let us know how your consultation goes?

John

It seems like you will never get to the bottom of these diagnosis. With all the great doctors at Mayo they will eventually figure out any issues and stay on top of them. Diagnosis, i have found to take a year or more. The process of elimination will prevail. There are so many symtoms that are signals.

I am curious who your gastroenterologist was at Mayo? I go to Dr Burdick at Mayo Scottsdale and hope it isnt him.

No my Dr is from oklahoma. His name is Dr. Paul Maton. When l had elevated ammonia levels and he saw l had an extra vein in my liver. Je told me l seen this in medical school but not in a human. Well you might say that doesn’t sound good at all. But he was so truthful that l highly respect him. I worked in a hospital for a long time and doctors don’t usually say that and when they did the procedure they couldn’t believe it, l had 5 extra. So they couldn’t believe l was still alive. But God has the final say
