It feels like I am short of breath I am so dry. Can someone offer any suggestions I feel miserable I just feel like sleeping any activity like shopping or mild housework I am all dryed out in the mouth I have to catch my breathe.

Hi Pattyf. So sorry to hear of your dx. I too have this condition. Have you tried Biotene? They make it in mouthwash, toothpaste and I believe lozenges. That may help some. I always carry a glass (HUGE glass) of ice to suck on or have some type of hard candy or gum. I hate seeing the doctor for any reason and they have to look in my mouth. Gross!

Other than the medication and home remedies I do, I really do not know of any treatment that would stop or take away all the dryness. They have me on different meds for the condition but that is for the symptoms that I have internally other than the eyes and mouth. I also am on three eyedrops. Are you on any of those?

Best of luck!

Thank you so much for your reply.I have tried biotene it does help some but it is very temporary I feel very depressed because I can only do an errand or two maybe going to the post office then going to the grocery store I come home drink two bottles of water and I am still dry. I feel almost that I can't catch my breathe I just had a eye exam and they gave me eye drops that he said will take a few months to kick in. I am 55 years old and was so very active and now it has cut almost all of my activities do you have the same? I feel blessed that you have replied and I just came to the mayo website really not looking for it but glad I did. Along with shogrens my rheumatologist found I have rheumatory arthritis I did two ear rands yesterday and so dry today I had to put on oxygen because it makes me feel so dry. Do you feel the same? I do. I have what they call Mixed Connective Tissue Overlap Disease. I have Lupus, Scleroderma and RA. Along with these I have Sjogrens, Raynauds, and a host of other things. Check my profile out. All my health interests are actual disorders I have.
I can really relate to what you are going through and I HATE it. I just wish somebody could do SOMETHING about it. Also, your oxygen will cause more dryness. I hate getting out breath!
