Severe Hypnic headaches Relief?
I am trying to connect with others diagnosed with severe hypnic headaches (like cluster headaches, inflammatory types; occur at night during each state of REM sleep). Have been searching for others via two other internet-based sites for recalcitrant headaches of all types and have not yet found anyone. I would like to share experiences and find out what has helped others. My treatments help, but not always.

Relative to experiences with that form of headache and even seizure–after
pressing for a sleep apnea test which proved negative; I pursued the matter
further. First, the peak of headache was always at the deepest part of my
sleep, also when I was most likely lightheaded on awakening.
I insisted the doctors involved place a programable Oximeter on my wrist at
bedtime. Consequently, results indicated “a Lower Oxygen content in my
blood, during the REM stage of sleep.”
Prescribed by using Oxygen for sleep, as well as puchasing an Oximeter or
two and using Oxygen when necessary. The matter resolved itself after over
a years use of Oxygen during sleep and has not needed to be used at that
point since. I also feel that part of the matters resolution was in age
and body change since entering Hospice for Pancreatic Cancer. “I get a
full nights sleep and am rested in the morning, except for the fatigue
initiated by the cancer.

THank you for your reply irkkay312. I am so sorry you have pancreatic cancer, advanced stages. I did not see your post until tonight–I am so sorry. I will try using an oximeter at night to see if my O2 levels are aberrant during REM sleep! What a great idea! I’m glad it helped you and I Pray your cancer can and will go into remission. Thank you again for sharing your “test” and treatment!
Hi Kay … I’m pretty new here, but I’m glad I saw your note in the Digest. Headaches can be debilitating, for sure. I get what they call “Ice pick headaches” which no one seems to understand.
My heart ached when I heard you were entering Hospice for Pancreatic Cancer. You sound like a very positive and brave soul and I admire your spunk.
My prayers will be with you, daily. I don’t even know you, but God does and I’ve written your name down for AM and PM prayer and anytime I think of you. Please write when you can, and stay close, both to us and to those who love you.
