severe diffuse atrophy of pancreas parenchyma
Hello: I had a routine CT scan for a heart issue. That issue turned out ok. However, the CT scan found I have severe diffuse atrophy of pancreas parenchyma. I am still in total shock. I am 77 years old and have no symptoms of any kind. I do have prediabetes. My a1c is 5.8 with fasting glucose in the mid 90s. In fact, I feel great! I have an appointment with the gastroenterologist next week. I have no idea what to expect. In your experiences, will I have to have more imaging done? Meds? Could this be age related? Like I said, I have never had anything like this before. I checked with Dr. Google, and wish I never.

@dennisbu I finally found you again! I think I’ll need to get tech support soon! I lost the discussion you started, then I found it and then I lost it! Yea I found you again! I wanted to give you this link which talks about your situation. It’s probably also on the Mayo Clinic site, but I couldn’t find it.

The site had some interesting subjects about the pancreas, one of which is EPI, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency which I’ve had for 3+ years without any education from the doctor. But that’s another story.
I also want to welcome you to Mayo Clinic Connect! And I didn’t do too well at that, with complaining about needing tech support and losing you and then finding you! I’m very sorry and I’ll get serious. MCC is a great platform for people to share information and tips about their medical journeys. None of us are doctors so we just share what we know from our own experience. Current members will find you in the morning and they’ll tell you what they know!
