Please get help for the depression. Medication, if only temporary, will help. You will then be able to think more clearly and come up with options regarding treatment for your back. Good luck.

Hi Scooter. I can totally understand your frustration. I agree with the other post that getting some help with your depression is a great start. I have had 5 back surgeries, severe nerve pain, that is being treated with Neurontin. I take 3-300mg caps, 3 times per day in addition to my pain medication. I will not lie to you, it doesn't take the nerve pain away 100 % but it does really help me. I have tried other meds for nerve pain but the Neurontin has helped me the most with the only side effect of being tired......I just joined the Mayo clinic discussion board today and am looking for referrals for an Orthopedic and/or Neurosurgeon to help me. I live in St Louis, MO and NO doctor will touch me. I am willing to travel the earth to find someone to help me. Right now I am having so much SI joint and posterior pelvic pain and trouble walking. I used to be a Pediatric Nurse but now I can't do anything. If you'd like to talk just send me a note. Take care
