Hi there. I'm an avid diver. I was just dx with 4.3 asending aneurysm. Are there any diver out there that have received a green light to dive? Of course I will also ask surgeon when I have my consult next month.

Hi, that question was asked about a year ago, and there’s a whole thread on it, you may want to search. I believe the recommendation is you shouldn’t as scuba alters your breathing and may raise your BP while doing it, high BP spikes even for seconds are very detrimental to aneurysms. That’s why they recommend not to lift weights or do any exercises that may lead you to hold your breath and grunt as you exert, BP spikes significantly during those seconds.

You may want to consult with an aortic disease specialist (a cardiologist focused in that area), some of them have done research regarding exercise and aneurysms and can give you the best advice.

All the best
