Anyone have experience with salvage SBRT after recurrent brachytherapy seeds in 2020 ?

Hi Petey, Just to clarify: your brachytherapy was ‘salvage’ treatment after initial therapy? And that has failed also?

Hi Phil and thanks for your input. In 2020 I had 68 seeds inserted. In July, 2024, a PET scan showed recurrent cancer still in the prostate. I’m now planning on SBRT and I’m wondering if others have had any experience after SBRT treatments.

@petey4546 Oh, thanks for clarifying; so you are having a recurrence after initial treatment using brachytherapy.
SBRT is probably your best bet to target the recurrence.
I guess your RO would really need to calculate how much radiation was involved in your initial brachy treatment in order not to cause damage to surrounding structures.
There are also proponents of SBRT using protons, which can be (or so it is claimed) more precise and less damaging. Best,
