So far, no. I've been taking it for 3 years without any side effects, and with a bit of improvement in my bone density as of the last DEXA scan.

Not so far, taking once a week with lots of water. I’ve only been on it 2 months.

Generally I have heard that the brand ( Actonel) has fewer side effects than the generic. Medivcare did not cover the brand so I had to buy it our of pocket.

Now that said, I did have side effects to Actonel - acute phase reaction ( sinus infection/ intense flu like symptoms) and I was hypersenitive to it ( terrible itchy) . It was very strong for me and my CTX plummeted to 81 in six weeks. ( I took it after tymlos as a buffer to dampen any bone loss) Thankfully my doc did Bonemarkers at 6 weeks. So Actonel did the work it needed to do and I was off it in 6 weeks. It took almost 2 months for the itchy to totally resolve. This make sense as the medication stays in the body for 2 months. I am highly sensitve so I am not representive of the general group.
sending postive energy that all goes well with you and your healing.

After trying a number of Bisophonates in my 60ies [after diagnosis of Osteopenia] my OBGYN put me on Actonel. I took it with acceptable side effects. After 4 months my jaw started hurting. I explored dental and other issues until learning that jaw osteonecrosis could be a side effect. I quit all and added exercise and not even social drinking. Now in my 80ies, a fall gave me a fracture in my spine that has healed well. So, 30 years later, I am back trying to determine the best course of action. The side effects of all these drugs for Osteoporosis can, for many, lead to a decrease in the quality of life. So, can a serious fall! Both my grandmothers in their late 80ies fell, broke a bone which resulted in their deaths from pneumonia in a hospital. Read McCormicks book and be knowledgable as you discuss meds with your doctors. I'm seeing an Endocrinologist after this next DEX scan. I'm leaning towards doing nothing again as jaw osteonecrosis scares me to death. Many drugs don't leave the system quickly .....if symptoms surface. It's like Russian Roulette and a very individual decision.
