Rheumatoid vasculitis

Posted by turtledale @turtledale, 6 days ago

I was hospitalized in 2024 at Johns Hopkins for 2 months before they had an idea what is wrong with me. I had extensive blood work, numerous scans , skin biopsy and muscle biopsy
Blood work was also sent to a few specialty hospitals to help find out my diagnosis. One Doctor told me he hasn't seen anything like this in 30 years. I felt like I was on display the amout of doctors that had visited me. Finally got the diagnosis of rheumatoid vasculitis. They told me that it is rare? Rare doesn't seem logical anymore after covid. I was numb from the waste down with saddle anesthesia. I am starting to have some sensation in my legs I had to learn to walk again since I laid in bed for 2 months. I had a couple years of physical therapy. My nerves where affected by this disease. Any one who has had nerve issues knows the pain you go thru. Nerves only grow the with of a dime a day so it is a long process. Just started getting help from a mental health therapist. My god send of a wife has been a real angel. She has taken over yard work along with shoveling snow when needed and being my Uber driver and every thing else I used to do. She has been my rock, best friend, therapist, wife, mother well you get the point. If I could give her the wife of the century award she deserves it. Is there anyone else going thru the same thing? If so how are you dealing with it? It is difficult at times. Keeping everyone in my prayers 🙏. Thank you.

Your story is one of perseverance and courage. Your wife deserves a spa day - possibly you can talk with one of her friends and arrange it as a little surprise. I would also suggest you take a few minutes to write her a thank you note. My husband required a lot of support dealing with the chronic problem he had and I treasure the note he wrote. Not that he didn't tell me thanks daily, but the note took special effort and I knew it.
Keep up the forward progress and the therapy. Surround yourself with positive people and efforts. I wish you success.
