Mayo Clinic Researchers Find Genetic Clue to Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Researchers have discovered a genetic defect that causes subsets of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). This is the first time a direct and defined cause has been reported. Doctors are hopeful this finding will lead to better long-term care and treatment for IBS.
