Research at Risk: Rooting Out Treatment-Resistant Prostate Cancer

Posted by dailyeffort @dailyeffort, 23 hours ago

The research which is the focus of this article should be of interest and importance to each of us. If so, we have both the opportunity and responsibility to advocate for restoration of the remaining 33% of the funding which was withdrawn in April. I have chosen to make calls, send emails and share this with others in hopes that it will make a difference for all of us on MCC as well as all of those who will follow in our patient/family member footsteps.

Below is the link to an article on the research concluded in 2023 which led to the three year DOD grand which was terminated in April of 2025.

The significance of Dr. Khurana's work on PCa was the reason for her being named one of the 2025 recipients of the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers.

Hi Bill - I will read links later but just wanted to ask if there is maybe some kind of fundraising organized for that cause ? I would definitely send a donation. 👍

Bill, it’s a sad commentary on our present administration’s cuts to some of the most critical areas of science and research.
I am hard pressed to understand what areas could be more important than a country’s health.
Interesting that the grant was awarded by the Dept of Defense- not sure I get that part; perhaps now that it’s the Dept of War, all $$ is focused on that only - drones, AI, etc…
But even the rudimentary work already done speaks to the complexity of the disease; four distinct stem cell lines and who knows how many more?! Man, there’s just no end to this multi headed beast, is there??
Many thanks for the articles…
Phil

Just keep voting for this administration and it will all be cut from research!

There is nothing you can do about this. The only solution to this problem is voting for the other party to get somebody in that has common sense. This is as stupid as saying climate change doesn’t exist.

@jeffmarc

There is no hope for that, when patients themselves think that there is enough funding for PC, than there is no hope indeed.
