Want to learn more about lymphedema

Posted by @jroberts87 in Just Want to Talk, Sep 21, 2012

I am currently a student working on my Master's of Arts in Psychology and plan to go to Occupational Therapy school afterwards. I am very interested in lymphedema. Currently, I am working on a research paper about the social and emotional impacts lymphedema has on an individual.

I am really hoping to gain some insight from those who are living with lymphedema. If you are willing to answer some interview questions, I would greatly appreciate it. Of course, all responses will remain confidential. Please feel free to contact me!!

I will gladly share info about my experience with lymphedema and hopefully you will be able to share your research with me. I am currently having extreme pain in my lower rear back that started with wearing compression leg 'appliances' . I also feel "off balance" when walking and standing.
Thanks in advance and much luck in your research. Grandma Sunny P.S. I am 92 y and currently writing a novel about bullying and abuse. Unfortunately, too long hours sitting with feet on the floor working at the computer may have contrtibuted to my lymphedema. Hope that helps with your research.

You might also try compression stockings

I should have been more specific. I'm particularly interested to know if elevation also works with arm lymphedema due to lymph node removal from breast cancer surgery. Nobody has ever told me to elevate it. But I see references to elevation from time to time. thanks again.

I am interested in finding anyone with lymphedema using compression leg "appliances". I just started and have severe pain in ny lower left back and feel "off balance" when walking or standing. Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance. Grandma Sunny @tonnere
