Regressed Potty Training

Posted by @amber12583, May 20, 2012

Hello fellow friends. I am writing you because I need your help and advice. My son will be 4 in July and he had been totally potty trained for a year and a half. A couple of months ago we moved from Montana to Colorado and about a week of being in Colorado my son started peeing in his bed at night and is scared of the toilets that flush by themselves so he wont use the bathroom while we are outside of the house. I don’t want him to end up with some kind of infection because he won’t go outside of the house.
I could really use some advice on how to stop the peeing to bed and getting him to go while we are out. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.

My son also is scared to use the toilets in public because one did flush while he was still using it. I would put my hand over the sensor (or T.P.) while he used it. He would plug his ears and then I’d remove my hand.
As for the bed wetting, it takes awhile for things to feel normal at home after a move. Another of my sons was potty trained when we moved, and he reverted back to peeing his pants. It lasted close to a year.
I always went to bed several hours after him, so I’d take him to the potty before going to bed. It was hard at first cause he wouldn’t wake up easily, but after awhile, he became used to it, so it wasn’t as difficult.
I never made a big deal of bed wetting; they figure it out in their own time. I put pee pads under the bedsheets so if they had an accident, I’d only have to clean the sheets and pad and not the mattress. Good luck!
