Do Mayo physicians talk with referring physicians?

@constantlywinning, yes. There are different points of communications between the referring physician and Mayo Clinic specialists throughout the appointment scheduling, consultation, treatment and follow-up according to the medical needs of the patient for their wellbeing, treatment and recovery.

Much of this is explained on Mayo Clinic's website here:
- Provider Relations https://www.mayoclinic.org/medical-professionals/provider-relations/refer-patient

Referring physicians submit clinical summaries, test results, medical history etc, which are reviewed by the appropriate Mayo team.

Mayo Clinic provides the referring physician with their patient's Mayo Clinic medical records in a timely manner once he or she is seen. Referring physicians who use CareLink, our referring physician portal, will have immediate access to their patients' records and will not receive mailed or faxed reports. Mayo physicians will provide a summary of diagnostic reports and treatments to you as soon as it becomes available. Mayo encourages referring physicians to register for a portal account. Records are sent via mail or fax for those providers who do not use the portal.

Mayo Clinic respects the relationships referring physicians have with their patients and is committed to open communication and prompt follow-up after their patient is seen. Mayo Clinic recognizes that patients look to the referring physician as their primary provider — and expect to entrust patients back to their ongoing care after being seen at Mayo Clinic.
