Recommendation for UC Davis Pulmonolgy

I’m pleasantly surprised by the expertise and enthusiasm of Dr.Chau’s team at UC Davis Pulmonology! She’s the sole pulmonologist specializing in bronchiectasis and there was a long wait to see her -but well worth it! A respiratory therapist and an additional pulmonologist were present, both very knowledgeable. Dr.Chau outlined her thoughts on ‘pulmonary hygiene’ including when and how to do airway clearance. I was provided with written instructions on using the flutter device, albuterol and Nebulizer in a certain order, how many breaths, how long, etc. I was advised that pulmonary hygiene is like dental hygiene -do it every day, just like brushing your teeth!

My previous UCLA pulmonologist had imparted the bronchiectasis wisdom ‘It’s chronic. It’s progressive. It’s not that bad’.
And that was about it.
So I’m sharing my experience as a tiny success story. A good doctor can make managing a condition less overwhelming, for sure!
