Concerned about bad infection after goldilocks reconstruction
Any advice for really bad infection revealed when bandages removed at 5 weeks. At 4 weeks I started sending my doctor that concerned fir redness and foul odor. Last weds, a different dr cultured it, cleaned and put me on Bactrim. On fri added clindemycin and topical mucoprin. Plastic surgeon wants to see me Friday but that seems to o long to wait. I'm exhausted and waiting on full culture panel. This has gotten me very discouraged and concerned. Any one else have this happen

I’d keep a close eye on your symptoms if they change while you wait, such as fever or chills indicating you might need more than a topical or pill. Those drugs do seem to be what is recommended, and fight both MRSA staph and MSSA staph infections.
To tell you the truth, I’d trust my general practitioner’s treatment of an infection over a plastic surgeon. Although the plastics can evaluate the condition of the skin and quality of the surgical site, I feel general practitioners are better trained in infection control and more knowledgable in when an infection may become systemic.
