Random and sudden symptoms related to nausea and other:
Hello, so I was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar or any thoughts or ideas. For context, I'm 33 F, 5'2" and roughly 100ish lbs.
So leading up to this, I was feeling fine besides tired and a little groggy. Then after being at work for about 2 hours I suddenly had an onset of symptoms.
I was hit with a sudden feeling of nausea, it feels like my stomach is tied into knots along with a stabbing or twisting sensation (it feels like I have an alien in my stomach and it's about to burst out of me-from the Alien movies). Then I was also beginning to experience shortness of breath, fatigue, having no energy (having to take repeat breaks to sit down). And then I was also experiencing a slight body chill.
To add, yes I've been diagnosed with Anxiety and I do deal with physical anxiety symptoms, but I have been dealing with these separate issues for nearly 15+ years and my physical anxiety symptoms always portray the same and those feelings are not the same to what I was experiencing today.
After coming home and laying down (about 4 hours after the onset of symptoms), the majority of the symptoms resided, but my stomach is still twisted into knots and feeling very nauseous and sick. I also have been gassy, belching a lot, and sometimes when I have stomach issues belching can help by reducing pressure, however it did not help with these symptoms.
I'm wondering if it could possibly be food poisoning or maybe a stomach bug or virus, like the flu.
If anyone has any ideas or clues or suggestions, please feel free to chime in and help!
Thank you.

Welcome to Mayo Connect. That must have been scary to have that episode. And there are many things that could have caused.
I have had similar episodes in the past before I had my gallbladder removed. Also, I have similar symptoms when my glucose drops too low.
And you're right; it could have been food poisoning, or you're fighting a virus.
Was this the first time you have had this type of episode?
Do you have a primary care provider that you can talk to about it?

1 ReactionSorry you are experiencing these symptoms…get checked out by a gastroenterologist….don’t delay…. I had a similar situation, osteopath felt a lump in my midsection and urged immediate imaging….it saved my life. Of course, many gastric problems are not like that and have simpler resolutions…not something to guess at and self-treat for any length of time.I had tried a few different diets without luck. Wishing you good luck and better days !
