I received the results from my bone test and they have recommended I start Prolia. I have read the side effects and I am concerned. Has anyone use this drug and if so what side effects have you experienced. Thank you

I will be having my fourth shot this next week, so far I do not have any side effects. Prolia does have a copay card available to help with cost of shots.

My doctors are recommending Prolia due to my severe osteoporosis. I have recently had a compression fracture, so treatment is very necessary. I'm also on Raloxifene as a breast cancer preventative and am wondering if Prolia and Raloxifene can be taken together. Do you happen to know? So glad you did not have any side effects.
Sorry, I do not know the answer to this question.
Harborside24 Hi lioness here You can go to drugs.com look for interactions
I am currently on my 3rd year of Prolia. I have NO side effects. I ended up switching doctors after approximately 15 years because of insurance problems/non reimbursements. I was ‘freaked’ out of my comfort zone and in the middle of treatment. I saw a new endocrinologist who agreed with the treatment as I have Systemic Mastocytosis and have had multiple fractures as well. I will continue on Prolia this year (June/May injections). See the endocrinologist and have my 1st DEXA scan after the start of Prolia. We may return to the 2 year Forteo as I had incredible results from that several years ago. I would highly recommend Prolia if needed.
which is better option to treat osteoporosis Prolia (denosumab) or Reclast like aclasta injection(zoledronic acid) for post menopausal women of 77 years old?
I was on Bonviva for 2 years and it didn’t work. I started Prolia in January. So far the only side effects I notice are the same I had with Bonviva… stiffness in my hips and knees when I sit for a long time or first thing in the morning. I am 53 and have just started testing to see if they can discover a cause for my Osteoporosis.
which is better option to treat osteoporosis Prolia 60 mg (denosumab) or Reclast like aclasta injection(zoledronic acid) for post menopausal women of 77 years old? She has already taken Bonmax Pth injection for 2 years.
Thank you so very much for the Prolia information. My doctor told me yesterday that he wanted to start me on this. Several years ago I took the Fotteo for two years, but since my bones are still so thin, he wants to try me on Prolia. Thank you to everyone who has information on this drug, it will definitely make all of our decision so much easier.
what is the information that you get from Prolia 60mg SC injection. Can you please share it to me. It will be very kind of you.
smtamt you may want to contact Prolia staff by telephone to discuss. They would be glad to answer questions and/or provide pamphlets. 1-877-776-1002. It has the potential to rebuild bone. Give a try.
I continue to receive Prolia injections 2x/year. I have had no side effects whatsoever. I do understand the questioner's concerns because the listed side effects are horrendous. My doctor's reassurance convinced me to try it & I am happy that I did.
Have you done your BMD Test? Have you seen any marked improvement in bone density esp. in Femur Neck Right and Femur Neck Left of your hips as well as AP Spine?
I have had 4 or 5 Prolia injections. I have had no side effects.
Does Prolia (60mg) injection make any marked improvement in bone density esp. in Femur Neck Right and Femur Neck Left of your hips as well as AP Spine?
I have had 3 or 4 prolia shots, I cannot say that I have had any side effects to date.
But do you have IMPROVEMENT?? I am willing to deal with side effects to a point IF there is proof that it works.
I had a slight improvement in a hip but didn't have any areas that declined. After I stopped Fosamax, there was a decline in bone density.
I would be careful contacting "Prolia staff"…..AMGN has a lot at stake in this drug, and the staff will IMO dismiss concerns in favor of encouragement to use the product. i am looking for people who can testify as to its efficacy.
I would also like to know the results of AMGN's "risk evaluation and mitigation strategy" as well as the results of the surveillance program to monitor more than 4,500 women already taking the drug back in 2010 .
The most common side effects with Prolia (seen in more than one patient in ten) are musculoskeletal
common side effects found to be common were:
Urinary tract infection
Upper respiratory tract infection
AND VERY COMMON
Pain in extremity
pain in the extremity.
Musculoskeletal pain, including severe cases, has been reported in patients receiving Prolia in the
post-marketing setting. In clinical trials, musculoskeletal pain was very common in both denosumab
and placebo groups.
I cannot post the link but you can find it on your own. AMGN has a market cap of $129.131B. They need to pump that pipeline.
