Procedure scheduling in Jacksonville

Posted by pal @palni, Mar 16 11:48am

Visited Mayo- JAX last week.. Provider suggested a procedure to do.. I have been waiting for 3 days and no one called me to schedule the procedure yet.. Left VM’s .. No response for that as well.

Anyone had similar experience in Mayo Jacksonville.. I heard that Mayo @ Rochester are good in these things..Anyone had similar experiences?

First, did you check your portal for any messages about scheduling appointment? Or verify it was not schedule and someone forgot to call you.

Not sure who you left voice message with, but I suggest on Monday, call central appt desk and tell them you are waiting to hear back on scheduling appointment. They can check to verify the order was placed and connect you to right person to schedule.

Jacksonville, Florida
Central Appointment Office
904-953-0853
8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern time
Monday through Friday

Hope you get answer on Monday.

On your email -Check your spam. When your comupter does not recognize the incoming caller, messages can be sent to spam.
And the return calls are not made via the same phone number that you used to leave the message. The unknown caller can also go to a spam filter because it is not recognized by your device. It has happened to me because I set a block on unknown callers.

Another thing, I used the portal last week, and saw a notice that it could take 2-6 days to get a response. (non emergency)
I hope you get the appointment scheduled soon.

@palni
I saw the 2-6 day notice when I sent a message to my nurse coordinator in transplant dept. It was a routine kind of question related to my ongoing care. It was not in the Appointment scheduling dept. My experience might not relate to that particular dept.

Have you called the Appointment office, yet?

REPLY

Yes..I have called the Central appt office.

They have put a message to the Scheduling Dept. Hopefully they should call me in a day or two.

It pops up when you try to send a message, but almost every medical center has this now, so I kinda just don’t even notice it.

The trouble with leaving a message with another department or Central Scheduling is it just goes back in the same message queue that takes 2-6 business days for a response.

Glad you were able to call Central Scheduling though. Definitely follow up if you don’t hear back in a few days.

Case in point, I was told I’d receive an appointment last Monday (this is also a Jacksonville department), and “someone” would call me. Loe and behold, there is no appointment scheduled in the portal, and no one has called me yet.

I fear when I call tomorrow (I thought it fair to give them a full week), I fear they’ll tell me again all of their June appointments (the slate of appointments that opened last week) are filled again. Thankfully, I have the direct number for the specific scheduling desk I need…I just…can’t get the appointment I need scheduled.

Hopefully we both get a resolution soon!

I had to go on waitlist for 4 months to get televisit appt at Mayo Jacksonville , ….then my appt for televisit was 3 months later . Then procedures were 2 months after that !! It was like 9 months in all .
Had 3 tests done , paid 4 k Out of pocket in co pays and hotel stay 3 nights . They said same thing my other Gastro doctor locally said after testing . So basically couldn’t help me w/ my chronic issues .
It was by far disappointing but they do run a tight ship once they schedule you for multiple tests . Esp if you are coming from further away . We are 3 hrs from it .
Good luck , keep calling if they don’t call you .

I'm sorry they couldn't help you. I definitely agree with the "keep calling" them strategy...I wish it didn't have to be that way.

For what it's worth, I can relate to the way, the financial investment, and then the disappointment. It's funny/not-funny, I just happened to have an appointment with my rheumatologist today and my neurology NP a few weeks ago, and they both said they have patients who've had similiar experiences being requested/required to re-do multiple tests, and the outcome has been mixed. I was even more disappointed because I had very little help coordinating appointments while I was in town with different departments even though I had referrals. Then, some offices refused telehealth; it was actually pretty disorganized.

But it seems to depend significantly on the department coordinating the appointments.
