It’s not clear what causes precordial catch syndrome, but it’s not caused by a heart or lung problem.
Precordial catch syndrome is chest pain that occurs when nerves in the front of the chest are squeezed or aggravated. It’s not a medical emergency and usually causes no harm.
Treatment is not usually required, but anti-inflammatory medicine may help reduce the pain.
