postpartum depression

Posted by hollya80 @hollya80, Apr 27, 2012

I have a 7 month old baby boy and feel like we are not as connected as we should be. I know he loves me, but he acts like he doesn’t want me to love on him. Does anyone have any advice? I think I have been dealing with some post partum depression, but have not seen the doctor about it yet.

Hey, No worries… This is a ‘Normal’ seperation time for most babies that usually go through it inbetween 5/7 months marker. He still loves you VERY much and will need your guidence and love, but needs to figure out his own ways too.

Please talk to your doctor. There is a very useful book from the government, titled Depression During and After Pregnancy http://www.ask.hrsa.gov/detail_materials.cfm?ProdID=3924
Babies do go through periods of separating like the other poster said but I don’t think you can infer that “he doesn’t want you to love on him” It could be something else.
