Possible swelling of the vocal cords , related to taking diltiazem

Has anyone suffered swelling of the vocal cords due to taking diltiazem? I've been to the emergency room, the doctor said it could be due to past smoking habits, current chewing tobacco habits, and he left, the nurse said I needed to take it up with my heart doctor, the recommendation was to see ear nose and throat doctor, I can't just suddenly stop taking diltiazem, thank you

Are you on Eliquis?
Acid reflux and GI issues can cause those problems . Yes go to an ENT. He’s the one that told me about the Eliquis adverse reactions and the GI, reflux and sinus, fatigue, and confusion issues.

@moski thank you very much, I will be discussing this with the heart doctor tomorrow, and hopefully the ENT doctor the day after

I have been taking diltiazem for years, but in the past year and a half, I have become very hoarse. The cat scan showed partial paralysis of my vocal cords. Medicine related?

@pinkskyinthemorning I don't know if it's medicine related or not? I saw it in a post somewhere else, it could be medicine related, diltiazem and even eliquis blood thinner, that's why I came here asking questions to see if anybody knew

@grammamia well he said it was not cancer to come back in one month he wanted to look again, a pretty bad dental infection was seen in my CT scan, I'm now being traded with clindamycin 300 mg antibiotic, he didn't say , so I had to ask the nurse, she said she thought it was dental infection related

@pinkskyinthemorning the doctor said it was not cancer, to come back in one month, I get to thinking about it now and he said he'd never noticed any medication having no side effects before, and he said he had been doing this for 23 years, so now they're leaning toward a dental infection I've got, I'm currently on antibiotics

If you scroll down the webpage, you will see a list of side effects, including sore throat, changes in voice, swallowing problems, and hoarseness. Partial paralysis of the vocal cord is not listed. Have you been referred to an otolaryngologist for the examination and treatment of your vocal cords?

@hopeful33250 thank you for the information, my heart doctor does not know about this, nor does the ENT I've been seeing
