Getting messages on the Mayo Clinic patient portal

Posted by spudlk @spudlk, Nov 30, 2019

Do you ever get a phone call from the doctor or the person working with the doctor or does it always come in the report section of the portal?

Hi @spudlk, are you referring to Mayo Clinic's patient portal? Are you expecting test results?

Hi @spudlk, I have received followup phone calls from both my doctor or their assistant after my knee replacement surgery and after some testing done for several health issues. I also look at my test results on the Mayo Clinic's patient portal. When I have questions I use the Messages section of the patient portal to send a message to my primary care doctor or health care team. Are you expecting a call from your doctor or their assistant?

It's really easy to send them a message on the Mayo Clinic patient portal if it's a non urgent medical question.

I did receive my radiology report yesterday which was helpful. Just wondering if the doctor or assistant call to discuss what comes next or if it is all just on the portal.

@spudlk it's been my experience that the doctor or or assistant will call after they've reviewed the test results to let me know what it means and/or if a followup is needed. If I had any question, I would definitely use the message feature of the portal to contact your doctor or care team and ask them any questions you might have.

Thank you. I did send a note and asked if we could discuss what comes next. The assistant did call back. It was very helpful. Now I wish I had asked for a call about my functional MRI.

I have sent messages and have gotten a response within 2 days. The other day I sent a message and asked for a call. The assistant did call the next day. It was helpful. Thank you.
