Thanks for posting this. I was able to watch the whole thing since you can speed it up when you’re replying back the recording of the earlier part..

2 ReactionsWhat are some of the notable findings or patterns that you are seeing from the PCRI conference sessions?
Different topic, but I watched a panel discussion in French from docs at Institute Curie (Paris) talking about how they are targeting the iron in cancer cells and purposefully causing oxidation (rust) as a way of killing the cell. Not sure if anyone else has heard about such a thing and has an English link to share.
@smoore4 A notable trend is that more and more low-grade disease (Gleason 6) are doing active surveillance. (Great if they’re keeping the surveillance truly “active.”)
Another is that some intermediate favorable disease (3+4) are doing active surveillance. (Great if there is a very small % of “4” cells, no other risk factors, and they’re keeping the surveillance truly “active.”)

There was a lot of discussion about the effectiveness of SBRT radiation. How it is shown to be more effective than IMRT in 20_ sessions because the higher amount of radiation used is more destructive to the cancer cells.
One interesting explanation about cancer cell death. Yes, radiation does cause cancer cell death, but it occurs because the cells always like to divide, to create more cells, And that’s when they die. They are unable to divide.
Dr. Heath from Mayo gave a great discussion of advanced prostate cancer treatment. She had many slides which discussed ongoing or past clinical trials. Very interesting amount of information if you want to look up what drugs were used during those trials and how successful they were. There was a lot of discussion about current clinical trials going on for advanced prostate cancer.
