Pain after fusion surgery

Posted by countzeller @countzeller, Dec 7, 2025

L5 - S1 fusion 11/17,taking gabapentin, dialudid,Valium,Tylenol but leg pain is 7 to 8 every night. Am doing exercises as directed. Took 5 day prednisone to relieve inflammation but severe pain persists
Dr believes at this point,my pain is to be expected. What other ideas exist for me? Follow-up x-ray 12/29.

I had severe leg pain after S-1 L5 fusion, where both legs felt like lightning bolts were shooting down to my toes—horrible pain. I spoke with my surgeon, who finally agreed for me to continue with Epidurals. That was three years ago, and I continue with pain, though not as severe. It is now more of a constant burning sensation. The epidurals are my lifesaver.
