Overnight stresses: Waking often and taking off all bedclothes

Posted by mariebrown4338 @mariebrown4338, Aug 25 10:44am

My husband has moderate dementia during the day but overnight his
behavior consists of him waking up every few hours taking off all his bedclothes and now also the bedcovers and sheets, etc. He does this several times a night. He appears to be dreaming but I don't know
what to do about this situation. I'd appreciate any advice. Thank you!

@mariebrown4338, his waking multiple times in the night and being active must be distressing and disruptive for both of you. You might find this article from Mayo Clinic:

- Alzheimer's: Managing sleep problems https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/alzheimers-disease/in-depth/alzheimers/art-20047832

The article offers several practical tips and echoes @gloaming's sentiment that you need your sleep too.

Among the tips for a good night's sleep the article suggests reviewing medications and when they are taken during the day. Has your doctor talked about using melatonin?
