Have you had a DEXA scan? If so, what are your T-scores? Are you being treated by a doctor, and if so, what kind of doctor?

2 Reactions@njx58 I’ve only had an X-ray which showed the fracture. I’m being put on a pill for osteoporosis as well as calcium. I’m going to physio since the fracture is affecting my right hip area and sciatic nerve. I’m going to ask for an MRI but being in Canada this test has a long waiting list. My doctor is a GP.

1 Reaction@teacher2001 I would not take that pill until you've had a DEXA scan. An MRI is not the same thing. If the pill is alendronate, then that is the knee-jerk prescription that GPs often give because they know nothing about osteoporosis. If you have a certain level of osteoporosis, that is not the best medication to start with, and it can even make other osteoporosis medications less effective if you take them later on.
I don't know if you're anywhere near this place:

1 ReactionI’m in Ontario Canada. What is a DEXA scan? I will mention it to my doctor when I see him. At first he put me on Actonel and it caused terrible joint pain and aches so I was going to ask for Fosamax which is less debilitating - it’s a once a month pill.
Here’s a description of a DEXA scan from Mayo.
