Osteonecrosis of the jaw
I am a 79 year old female and was diagnosed with osteoporosis in my sixties. I had taken Forteo for 2 years and then Reclast infusions for 4 years. Then several years later I started Prolia. I talked to several doctors and they felt I needed to start on another drug. I had been on Prolia for 2 years when I was diagnosed last year with Osteonecrosis of the jaw.
Has anyone else been diagnosed with this condition? I have been told by my doctor that I can not take anymore bisphosphonates.

I do not understand your post. Please clarify.
A friend of mine went down the same path as you. She also has Osteonecrosis of the jaw. They took her off bisphosomates and put her on Evenity. She is seeing a specialist for this. Good luck

3 Reactions@maryandnans But isn't Evenity supposed to be followed with a bisphosphonate to maintain gains? But it sounds like your friend can't take those due to her jaw problems. So then she will lose any gains from the Evenity.

2 ReactionsI no longer have the link, but have read that Forteo can help heal Osteonecrosis of the jaw. I had that after 6 months of Prolia, following my two years on Forteo, and was told because I had been on Forteo, my healing went well. I did not get second shot of Prolia and opted instead for Raloxifene . I did that for 5 years and now on my second round to Forteo, but the biosimilar brand of Teriparatide.

2 Reactions@maryandnans A friend of my Mom's developed the osteonecrosis of the jaw. I will never take a bisphosphonate - no matter what. Your doctor should be talking to you about what options you have. If your osteoporosis/osteopenia is not severe, I personally would not go on any of these drugs. But I understand that a lot of people have no option.

4 ReactionsI am not planning on going on any drugs, since I have improved my bones from osteoporosis to osteopenia.

2 Reactions@daisy17 that is a good question.
@daisy17 Evenity is also associated with increased risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw, plus, as you said, suppposed to be followed with a bisphosphonate.

1 ReactionI developed spontaneous osteonecrosis of the jaw after one Prolia shot. The area was around my jaw dental implants which had been in place for twenty years.
