Order of nebulizing and neb cups.

My Dr is having me change meds for nebulizing. New meds are Arformoterol (Brovana) and Budesonide (Pulmicort), plus I will continue with 3% saline. What order is working well for others on this? Also do you need 3 separate cups vs starting the next med once you’ve finished one off? Dr said to do them all separately and not to mix them. Thank you.

@rmoore901 When I have used multiple meds, I just rinsed the neb cups with filtered water in between and washed at the end.
The bronchodilator, Brovana, should be used first to open airways. Then the saline and airway clearance. I was taught to use the steroid last, Pulmicort, after airway clearance, so it would stay in my lungs.
Did the doctor suggest their preferred order?

I use pulmicort and acetylcisteine, i was told I could put them together in the neb cup. Even when I was hospitalized, the respiratory therapist would put them together.

@sueinmn thank you for that information, the order makes sense. I usually bring all my notes with me to the office but didn’t think at the time to ask about the order as I was more focused about the review and changes showing on my CT scan. I like your approach of a quick rinse in between as that would be much easier to manage.
