Online business meeting while spouse has procedure - Rochester
My wife and I will be in Rochester next week so she can have some follow-up tests. I work remotely and haven't had an issue in past years with online meetings while I wait. Generally I listen in and only occasionally have a speaking role. This year is a bit different. I need to find somewhere in the Gonda building (or nearby, but preferably in Gonda, near my wife) where I can present via Zoom for 1 - 2 hours. I know the waiting areas are large but no one wants to listen to me babble, even if I'm off in a corner. Can anyone offer suggestions where I can park myself for up to 2 hours while I do an online presentation? Unfortunately, moving the meeting is not an option.

@jimmy99, I know what that is like when presenting on the road. Here are a couple of options you may wish to look into.
The Kahler Hotel is across the street from the Gonda building and may have a business center with a separate area that you can use.
Contact Mayo Clinic Conceirge Services. They may have ideas for you.

4 ReactionsWhen I had a recent video appt with a Mayo urologist he looked like he was in some sort of large very adorned conferene room instead of an office. Almost like it was a lodge. Maybe something like that might be available.
@jimmy99
I was in a similar situation this week, and unfortunately I could not find a space to do a Zoom meeting. I found a spot on the subway level where I was able to find a place no one was when I started the meeting. But it was not private, and people were often in the same place, and there was background noise.
Hopefully in the future Mayo will provide those options.
I asked at the information desk, and they were not aware of the place. Colleen's suggestion to check with Concierge Services is a good idea.
Make sure your devices are charged up; if you find a quiet place, there may not be an outlet close.

3 ReactionsI would ask your wife's nurse or doctor. I am guessing you are not the first to need this.
Thanks for the info, everyone. I reached out to Mayo Clinic Concierge Services and they sent me the following response. It wasn't what I had hoped to hear, but at least it's a definitive answer:
"Thank you for contacting Mayo Clinic Concierge Services. We hope that you find the following travel and community resource information helpful as you plan your visit to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Unfortunately, there are no spaces on the Mayo Clinic Downtown Campus that we could guarantee would work well for a virtual meeting when you need to do the majority of the presenting. However, below you will find two options in the downtown area, within walking distance of the Gonda Building, that may work for your needs.
Rochester Public Library Meeting & Study Room Info (includes info about sound booths as well)
Collider Co-Working spaces
If at any time you don’t find the answers to the questions you have here, or if you would like lodging, supportive resources, local transportation or dining options tailored to your personal preferences and needs, please feel free to contact Concierge Services during business hours."

3 ReactionsOne last follow-up in case anyone is interested. The public library will allow non-residents to reserve a "Study Pod" or Sound Booth for up to 2 hours at no charge. You can't be engaged in any sales activities or related things, but for a quiet space for a meeting, this looks very good. It's about a 15-minute walk from the Gonda building to the library.

2 ReactionsI suggest that after you drop your wife off, you return to your hotel room to conduct the meeting. With the "do not disturb sign" on your door, you will have the quite and privacy needed.
@cromme50 if I could keep my hotel room until 3pm I definitely would do so!

Some have late checkout for an extra fee. Can you do it in your vehicle?
